MAFIA Island, only 45 minutes flight south of Dar es Salaam, is one of the most exciting big game fishing and diving locations in the world. Expanses of virtually unfinished water offer keen challenges to the fishermen. They abound with a rich variety of fish of tremendous size and weight, many of them greater fighters.

Mafia Island provides a bare from which the fishermen many explore the best potential fishing along the Indian Ocean sheaf and around the many small islands of the area.

Big game fish caught off Mafia Island include marlin, saw fish, shark tunny, (some of biggest landed along the East African costs) king fish, barracuda, red shapper, rock cod, dolphin, horse mackerel, Wahoo five fingered jack and fimbo.

Fishing is possible all the year round inside the reef and channel.
